Daily Bread Mark 10:52

Are You Like Bartimaeus?

How do you respond to the bashing of your faith?

Are you like Bartimaeus who, despite his blindness, knows the Scriptures by heart? Annoyed, the crowd silenced him; yet he didn’t stop from shouting the name of Jesus. When Jesus called him to come near, his apostles said, “Courage, he is calling you.” Then Jesus spoke ~

‘What do you want me to do for you?’ ‘Rabbuni,’ the blind man said to him, ‘Master, let me see again.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your faith has saved you.’ And immediately his sight returned and he followed him along the road.
~ Mark 10:51-52

In his reflection, Fr Chito Dimaranan SDB speaks of clarity of vision, mind, heart and wisdom. If you are being rebuked because of your church, how would you defend yourself? If your faith is like Bartimaeus’s, you would have all the courage. And if your bashers had the clarity of heart and wisdom, they would not even question your faith.
